KKL files two cases against YAS Director T. Phullen Meitei on alleged corruption charges

Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) has filed a complaint against the Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, ManipurT. Phullen Meitei MCS alleging corruption to the selection of coaches for the Khello India program to the State Vigilance Department.
A statement of the KKL said that the State Vigilance Department has registered a case against the YAS director, T. Phullen Meitei.
It said that the complaint was filed in two cases relating to the selection of coaches for the Khello India program.
“The first is over the selection of one Khwairakpam Indira a Kayaker as the Rowing Coach. It might be recalled that Govindas Korthoujam, Minister, YAS is on record for having said that Kayaking and Rowing are the same akin to saying that Hockey and Football are the same as both are played on ground. It was also to clarify over the confusion created by the Minister’s statement that the President of the Rowing Federation of India Rajlaxmi Singh Deo had clarified to the Manipur Olympic Association stating that Rowing and Kayaking are two entirely different disciplines for while Rowing has fixed oars and move backwards Kayaking involves free holding oars and moves forward and Kayaking comes under a different Federation at the national level. She had also recommended that the Kayaker appointed as the Rowing Coach be removed from her post.
“The second pertains to the selection of a Boxing Coach who had failed to appear before the selection panel on the day in which the interview was held. The clandestinely selected person was taken in preference over a national level boxer who also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Coaching in Boxing”, the KKL statement said.
The Vigilance Case currently under way refers to No. 5/V/S P-V & ac/2023.
