Imphal, June 27:

In response to the demands of several political parties calling for a change in the Chief Ministership, Khwairamband Keithel Nupi Marup has called upon all political parties, MLAs, and ministers to stand together and work towards a common goal. Laishram Memma, President of the Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup, delivered this message during a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club, emphasizing the people’s opposition to President’s rule in Manipur.
Speaking on behalf of the organization, Memma highlighted the ongoing attacks by armed Kuki militants since May 3, resulting in the deaths of numerous innocent citizens in the outskirts of the Valley areas. She stressed the urgent need for ministers, MLAs, and political parties to unite and address this issue by setting a common goal. Memma also discouraged the practice of blaming and criticizing one another, as the people of Manipur are already familiar with the conduct of both previous and current governments.
Furthermore, the representative urged political parties, ministers, and MLAs not to advocate for President’s Rule in Manipur or seek a change in the state government leadership. She criticized the Union Home Minister for expressing administrative preferences for the division between the hills and valleys, demanding clarification on this matter.
Questioning the motives behind the BJP and Mizoram’s support for President’s rule in Manipur, Memma raised concerns about hidden agendas. She highlighted the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum’s opinion on changing the Chief Minister, threatening non-cooperation with ongoing peace talks if their demands are not met. Memma emphasized the need for transparency and urged these groups to disclose their hidden agendas to the common people, as achieving peace is paramount.
The organization appealed to all political parties, ministers, MLAs, and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Manipur to work together with a shared objective of restoring peace in the state. Memma Devi, in her concluding statements, called upon the Chief Minister to fulfill his role and duties effectively to preserve Manipur’s integrity. She assured him of the mothers’ unwavering support in upholding Manipur’s integrity.
