A 27-member delegation from the Khwairambad Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace embarked on a journey to Jiribam to observe the current situation and extend solidarity with the affected communities. The team departed from Imphal International Airport, aiming to assess the situation on the ground and offer support to those impacted by the ongoing ethnic tensions.
The peace delegation’s journey comes in the wake of the violent attacks on June 6, where Kuki Narco terrorists targeted the Meitei community, resulting in the destruction of several villages. This attack has heightened the community’s resolve to stand firm on the need for peace and the protection of their integrity.
Y. Ibeyaima, Co-Convenor of the Khwairambad Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, emphasized the importance of this mission. She stated, “This visit to Jiribam is crucial for us. We need to understand the ground realities and extend our support to those who have suffered. Our commitment to integrity and peace remains unwavering.”
The team, comprising 27 members, includes individuals from various walks of life. Additional members are expected to join in the coming days, further strengthening the delegation. The visit is planned to span five days, during which the delegation will meet with local leaders, assess the situation, and explore ways to foster peace and reconciliation.
