Kabui Union holds meeting to encourage indigenous culture

The Kabui Union, Manipur, convened a Special General Body meeting yesterday, at the Community Hall of Moirangkhom Kabui Khul, bringing together Kabui members from various districts. The meeting was presided over by Dr. K. Heera Kabui, President of the Union. Prominent attendees included Gangmei Kataigang Kabui, Golmei Jiten Kabui, and Lanbon Kabui.
During the event, a patriotic song was released, and Pou Longmei Pourillung Kabui was honored for securing 2nd position in both Right and Left Arm-wrestling at the National Arm-wrestling and Para Arm-wrestling Championship 2024 in Nagpur, receiving a Certificate of Appreciation.
The Union passed several resolutions focusing on community welfare, emphasizing the unity and active participation of all Kabui members for community development. Efforts to preserve cultural heritage were highlighted by encouraging participation in the yearly commemoration of Kabui Salang Maiba. The need for members to stay active and present in meetings was addressed, with steps to handle absenteeism and resignations effectively. The women’s wing was strengthened with the appointment of Mrs. Phaomei Puiruna Kabui as President and Mrs. Rajani Palmei Kabui as General Secretary. Additionally, the Union committed to working with the Federation of Haomee on the erection of an indigenous pillar at Sawombung Kabui Khunjao.
