Kabui Loisang inaugurated, aims to foster unity

The Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board organized a low-key inauguration ceremony for the newly established Kabui Loisang on its premises, situated at Haying Khongbal Uphong Yumpham, Sanamahi Road, in the bustling city of Imphal. The event, characterized by its understated and intimate nature, was attended by representatives from both the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board and the Kabui Customary Councils, signifying a quiet yet meaningful celebration of unity and cultural heritage within the community.
In a significant development, the two esteemed bodies formally solidified their commitment to cultural collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding. According to the terms of this agreement, the Kabui Customary Council (Sanamahi Laining Chatpa) pledged to adhere to the rules and regulations of the Sanamahi religion. Simultaneously, the Sanamahi Temple Board expressed its profound respect for and recognition of the Kabui Union (Sanamahi Laining Chatpa). This historic accord also stipulated the establishment of a Kabui Loisang, as outlined in their letter sent to the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) on October 21, 2023. Today, this visionary initiative has come to fruition, marking an important milestone in the preservation and promotion of their cultural heritage.
Further reinforcing their commitment to cultural and religious harmony, the two distinguished bodies reached a consensus on the scope and operation of the newly established Kabui Loisang. It was agreed that the Kabui Loisang would exclusively conduct religious activities within the domain of the Sanamahi Religion, and they would diligently seek the necessary permissions from the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) for any such religious undertakings.
In addition, both parties demonstrated their dedication to maintaining a harmonious relationship by affirming that the Kabui Loisang would fully comply with the rules and regulations set forth by the LSTB. Furthermore, they collectively decided that the ultimate authority and decision-making power within the context of these matters would rest with the LSTB, underscoring their shared commitment to preserving the sanctity of the Sanamahi faith and traditions.
The historic memorandum of understanding was solemnly signed, signifying a momentous milestone in the promotion and preservation of cultural and religious traditions. The agreement bore the signatures of notable figures, with Kamsaon Gangmumei Kabui, the President of the Kabui Customary Council, leading the representatives from the Kabui community. On the side of the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, the Vice-President II, Vidyapati Senjam, along with four other esteemed members, penned their commitment to this cultural accord.
In an effort to further deepen their engagement and share the rich heritage of Sanamahism, the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board also announced a forthcoming 15-Day Workshop on the “Rite-De-Passages” of Sanamahism (Sanamahi Laining gi Pokpa, Luhongba amasung Korou Nonggabagi Thouramsing). This insightful workshop is scheduled to take place in collaboration with the Manipur University of Culture, commencing on November 11, 2023. It is poised to serve as a vital platform for the transmission of knowledge and cultural wisdom, fostering a deeper understanding of the unique rituals and traditions that define Sanamahism.
