Jiribam, June 14:

In light of the ongoing tensions in the region, the All Jiribam Muslim Welfare Society (AJMWS) has announced the restriction of recreational and entertainment activities during the Eid-ul-Aadha festival in the Muslim areas of Jiribam.
According to a press note issued by the society, the decision was made during a meeting held at Sonapur, Jiribam. The society stated that Eid-ul-Adha prayers will be conducted at the respective local mosques, but mass gatherings at Eidgahs (prayer grounds) will be avoided as an expression of condolence for the current situation in Manipur.
“The meeting also decided to restrict all kinds of recreation and entertainment of the Eid-ul-Aadha festival in the Muslim areas of Jiribam except essential prayers of Eid and necessary activities,” the press note read.
Considering the prevailing unrest in Manipur, the society has decided to offer special prayers on Eid day for the restoration of peace and normalcy, as well as for the peaceful rest of those who have lost their lives in the ongoing violence. The society has also appealed to all Muslim residents of Jiribam to refrain from unnecessary movements within the town.
The meeting observed a 2-minute silent prayer for the peaceful rest of the departed souls affected by the recent incidents in Manipur.
