Jiribam, June 7:

The Jiribam District has been plunged into a tense situation after a 59-year-old man, Soibam Saratkumar, was allegedly killed and beheaded by unidentified miscreants.
According to reliable sources, Saratkumar, a resident of Gularthol, Jiribam, had gone to his farmhouse located in the Jairolpokpi area of Jiribam District, which borders the Tamenglong District of Manipur. While returning from the farmhouse around 5:00 pm, Saratkumar was allegedly kidnapped by miscreants from an area within 100 meters of the IRB training center, where a CRPF camp is located.
Saratkumar’s wife and son, who were traveling separately, tried to reach him by phone, but his phone was found switched off. The son then went back to search for his father and found Saratkumar’s abandoned bike near the IRB training center. Sadly, Saratkumar’s beheaded body was later discovered in a nearby jungle.
Amid rising concerns over potential disturbances and threats to public tranquility in Jiribam, the District Magistrate has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Cjjode (CrPC) 1973. Krishna Kumar, IAS, District Magistrate of Jiribam, announced the order in response to unlawful activities by anti-social elements that could lead to widespread unrest, breaches of peace, and imminent danger to life and property.
