Imphal, Dec 16: Pirated DVD disc of Manipuri film Eikhoi Pabunggi, directed by Hemanta Khuman, written by Binoranjan Oinam and produced by Bigyani Hidangmayum and Bachan Chongtham were seized from the possession of a 60 years old woman by members of Film Forum Manipur (FFM) from Khwairamband Ima Kheithel area in Imphal yesterday evening.
The woman identified as Ngangom Ongbi Landoni Devi, w/o Ngangom Okendro of Bashikhong Leirak Achouba of Imphal East was caught along with the pirated video disc while selling at the Ima Market area.
Landoni Devi was handed over to City police where a case under FIR no 219/12 of City PS US 420, 120 B.
After producing at CJM Imphal West police remanded the accused, Landoni Devi for five days in custody.
Speaking to the media persons, Ngangom Tejkumar, Vice President of MFF reminded the people about the copy right act – 1957 and said that any person pirating the Manipuri movie can be punished.
He appealed concern authority to bring out a stronger act to protect the right of the Manipuri films and the producers.
The film was released on September 17 of 2016 at Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT), Palace Compound, Imphal and October 1 of 2016 at Delhi University Conference Centre, North Campus, University of Delhi, New Delhi.
The film is also featured by popular Manipuri Star Leishangthem Tonthoi, Bala Hijam, Echita Yengkhom, Ethoi Oinam, Danny Likmabam, BIju Ningombam, Suraj Sharma Laimayum Pilot and Mukabala @ Loya in the lead roles.
