Is Manipur a part of India – Ashang Kasar questions the Prime Minister

Imphal, June 23:

Convenor of the Forum for Restoration of Peace, Manipur Ashang Kasar today questioned the Prime Minister of India to clarify whether Manipur is a part of India or not.
“If Manipur is a part of India, then why the prime Minister is silence on the present crisis of Manipur”, the Convenor for the Restoration of peace in Manipur told media persons at Manipur Press Club today.
Feeling humiliated to the attitude of the central government authority including the prime Minister in connection with the ongoing conflict, Ashang Kasar said that it is time that the people of the state jointly fight the government of India for a separate Manipur if the Government of India fail to consider the state as a part of the country. The social activist also gives strong words to the representatives of the legislative assembly to either stand with the people or face the wrath of the people.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi used to come to Manipur during elections for his BJP party and bowed before the people of Manipur as a BJP karyakarta forgetting his position as the Prime Minister of India. He used to call Manipur as the Switzerland and Jewel of India copying the term given by the then Prime Minister of India the late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He praised Manipur and even said “ No Manipur, no India, and Manipur is a vibrant state of India”. But now it is well known that, Narendra Modi came to Manipur like the wolf in the sheep’s clothing”, Ashang Kasar said.
He said that the people of Manipur should now know that, Narendra Modi only wants votes for his BJP party and he is not even ready to shed crocodile tears for the state of Manipur when it most needs consolation and concern over the killings in Manipur. He is the least concerned Prime Minister of India on Manipur since India’s Independence in 1947.
He recently went to Orissa to console the death of a train accident. He expressed deep sorrow over the death in Sikkim by an avalanche. He paid homage when an Indian jawan is killed with much respect. But when there had been hundreds killed in ethnic violence, when hundreds of houses have been burnt and lakhs had been internally displaced in the state of Manipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi still remains a mute spectator on the miseries of Manipur.
“Rather than feeling sad, it seems he is playing a casino game over the grave socio-ethnic violence of Manipur” Ashang Kasar said.
Ashang Kasar further said that the present state government of Manipur has totally collapsed. The houses and official bungalows of the Ministers and MLAs are attacked and burnt down by the irate public. Yet, the prime Minister of India without paying any heed is preparing to give a talk on the “Emergency of India 1975” in the US.
“This is unbecoming of a Prime Minister when one of his states in the country has fallen apart in lawlessness. He has not even the least concern as to him the number of killings so far in Manipur is still below the number that was killed in thousands by over a day in his own state of Gujarat”, the social activist said.
Ashang Kasar further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should remember that Manipur state has brought more international laurels to India in the field of games and sports than any other state in India. Before Manipur showed to the world in this field, India was at the lowest EBB except in the fields of Kabaddi and Cricket.
