Immunization charged Rs. 300 to 400 at JNIMS; Digital x-ray remain unrepaired

Immunization programme which has to be provided free of cost to every children is being charged from rupees 300 to 400 by the authority of the JNIMS. Report said that the hospital authority did not provide any official receipt for the charge. When asked to provide one the hospital authority refused to provide immunization for the children.
On the other hand, Digital X-ray machine installed at the department of Dentistry, JNIMS remain unused as authority failed to repair it since the last 2 years. According to staff of the institute, the Direct View Vita-CR digital X-ray machine manufactured by Carestrem Company which was procured by the Institution in 2013 remain unused since October month of the year after it experienced some technical defect. The machine cost over 50 lakhs and authority of the Institution has no interest in repairing the machine, for reason best known to them. The Printer Machine for the x-ray machine called Dry View 5700 Laser Imager too remain condemn since its installation.
Department of Dentistry is an important unit of the institution with at least 50 to 80 patients attending every day. As the digital X-ray installed could not be used patient are advice to take X-ray if required from private clinic.
Mention may be made that JNIMS, at present is running without a director after force retirement of Dr. Shyamo. Commissioner of Health, Dr. Suresh Babu is looking after as in charge director of the Institution.
