Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit system in Manipur is resuming its agitation for implementation of a legislation for protection of the Indigenous people of the state. In an exclusive conversation, the Convenor of the JCILPS, W Anand said that the committee is organizing a mass rally tomorrow from Thoubal Haokha to Wangbal. He said that the committee will also organized various form of agitation if the government failed to fulfill the demand of the people of Manipur. He said the legislation which was tabled in the last Manipur Legislative Assembly Session did not content any sections to protect the indigenous population but it was rather a legislation to protect the outsiders. He said the government should once more table another bill at the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly session which is scheduled to begin from June 26 . Mentioned may be made that the last Assembly session was compelled to extend for another two days to introduce the Manipur Regulations of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers’ Bill 2015. The Bill was however opposed by five opposition MLAs on the ground that the bill does not content any demands put up by the JCILPS. Demanding amendment of the bill the JCILPS had threatened for an intensified agitation by enforcing self regulations for outsiders. The JCILPS had even started verifying the outsiders at various places of the state. Later, the agitation was somehow cooled down as the Chief Minister had said that the bill can be amended if the people of the state are not satisfied. he also assured the govt. concerns for protection of the indigenous populations.
