ICAR Manipur Center provides food processing and mushroom cultivation training prog to inmates at relief camp

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Manipur center has been providing food processing and Mushroom cultivation training programme to inmates taking shelter at various relief camps opened due to the ongoing crisis in the state.
A training programme for fruit processing begins today for inmates of the relief camp opened at Manipur College here in Imphal West. Talking to reporters, programme provider Dr. Y. Prabhabati of KVK Chandel ICAR said that the ICAR has been organizing food and fruit processing training programme for the inmates at relief camps for the last few days.
“We have given training for food processing at 4 relief camps in Imphal West and this is the fifth time that we are organizing the food processing training programme”, Dr. Prabhabati said. She said that the inmate can easily earn money once they learnt food processing without much investment after they return to their respective homes.

The inmates were given were given training in food/ fruit processing and mushroom cultivation.
Dr. Arti Ningombam, Senior Scientist, ICAR Manipur Center, Th. Surjit Singh, Technical Officer (Plant Pathology) ICAR Manipur Center were also present in the training programme.
