HSLC Exam 2023 result declared: Girls outshine boys; Yengkhom Pareihanba of RM School emerges overall topper

The results of the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2023 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur has been declared today with the best pass percentage of 82.82% in the last ten years. Out of the 38,127 candidates appeared, 31,365 candidates cleared the HSLCE -2023 with the girls outshining the boys with 56 toppers among the 83 toppers in the merit list.
For the first time, the Ratankumar Memorial School, commonly known as RM School, Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi secures the top 4 positions with Yengkhom Pareihanba on the 1st Rank securing 99% (594 out of 600) with letter marks in all the subjects with Higher Mathematics as the optional subject. He is also one of the subject toppers in Mathematics and Higher Mathematics. The 2nd Rank is shared by Omega Chanu Wangkhem and Venus Laiphrakpam of the same school. Interestingly, the RM Memorial School is situated next to the Pitambara School which produced the HSLCE toppers for consecutive two years.
The 3rd Rank is also shared by three students; Ophelia Chanu Ngangom, Sanchitra Thokchom, and Silivia Mutum of the RM Memorial School. Mariya Rahaman of Ratankumar Memorial School took the 4th Rank all alone. The school has 16 toppers out of the 83 toppers on the merit list, sharing 19% of the merit list.
Although there are no government or government-aided school students in the merit list, this year shows their best performance in the last ten years with the pass percentage of 66.96% and 81.69% for the government schools and the government-aided schools respectively.
Of the total candidate appeared 21,405 candidates (56.52%) passed in the 1st division, 9668 students (25.53%) passed in the second division and 292 students passed in the Third division.
Education Minister Th. Basanta while declaring the examination said that the government is making all efforts to improve the education system of the state. On being questioned about the fate of the students of the state due to ongoing conflict, Basanta said that government will ensure education for all the students who are displaced due to the ongoing conflict. He said that Nodal officers have been appointed at all the districts for ensuring education for all the students.
