Govt. silence to the murder case of Akoijam Nonganba @ Aging irked JAC

The silence of the state government to the demand for handing over the murder case of Akoijam Nonganba @ Aging even after 6 months has irked the JAC formed against the brutal killing prompting them to launch another agitation from August 30.
“Even though the state is facing a warlike situation it is also our responsibility to ensure justice for the person killed inhumanely” Leimapokpam Nganbi, a representative of the JAC today media persons. She said that the state government had assured to hand over the case to NIA for investigation but as of now no such proceeding for handing over the case of the NIA.
“If the government fails to hand over the case to NIA on or before Aug 30, the JAC along with Meira Paibis of the state will precede intense form of agitation.
Mother of late Aging, Akoijam Ongbi Shantibala who also attended the press meet at Manipur Press Club said that she had lost all faith to the ruling government. Earlier I had some faith as the Home Department of the State government had assured to hand over the case to the NIA.
“I expected justice for my son as the Home Department has assured to deliver justice of my son by handing over the case to the NIA, but today as I see no proceedings for handing over the case of my son’s murder, I have lost all trust to the government and its machineries”, Shantibala told media persons.
“I only pray the government for handing over of the case related to the murder of my son to the NIA to find the truth and so that those involved in the killing of my son can be booked and punished.
Nonganba @ Aging’s dead body was found at Changoubung village which is located at a distance of 3 km from Kangpokpi Police Station in Kangpokpi district at around 2.30 pm on February 11, 2023.
According to eyewitness accounts, Nonganba went out from his residence along with one Thokchom Sonia on Saturday. Nonganba did not return on Saturday and family members thought that he might be staying at his resort called ‘Cicada’. However, one person called his mother over the phone and informed her that Nonganba’s body had been found at Changoubung village.
It is reported that one Swift car bearing registration number MN01S-0866 (owned by Sonia) was found near the body along with his mobile phone and wallet.
