Govt. printing house lacks proper infrastructure – Asst. Dir

Imphal, July 19: Lack of manpower, machineries and limited financial resource is the main reason for keeping the Directorate of Printing and Stationery at low profile.
Speaking at the media interaction programme organised by DIPR at its office complex, K. Devananda, Assistant Director of Printing and Stationery said that as the department is not having quality machines as well as proper staffs the department is not capable of producing quality printings.
“As we do not have updated machines, people choose private owned printing house for quality product”, K. Devananda said.
K. Devananda further said that the department has some printing machines but does not have the pre-press work machines like Computer to Plate (CTP), an imaging technology used in modern printing processes. In this technology, an image created in a Desktop Publishing (DTP) application is output directly to a printing plate.
He further added that lack of such machine has failed the department to compete with other printing house in producing high quality of image. As of now the government press is printing only black and white prints.
