Dr. Yaiskul Khwairakpam receives Dr. Thiyam Suresh Literary Award 2024

Dr. Yaiskul Khwairakpam has been honored with the Dr. Thiyam Suresh Literary Award 2024 by the Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF). In an event held at Ima Banquet Hall Keishampat, PAWF bestowed the award upon Dr. Khwairakpam. The ceremony, which took place yesterday, featured Longjam Joychandra, President of the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Imphal, as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Dr. Khwairakpam himself, who also serves as the President of PAWF, with Dr. Laishram Landhoni from Biramangol College Sawombung as the guest of honour.
The Dr. Thiyam Suresh Literary Award is named in memory of Thiyam Suresh, who passed away due to Covid-19 on May 23, 2021. The award was presented by RK Tamphanasa Devi, the widow of the late Thiyam Suresh.
Dr. Yaiskul Khwairakpam, born on October 15, 1941, is the son of the late Luja Khwairakpam and Angom Ningol Thambal from Awang Sekmai Makha Leikai. He has an impressive literary portfolio with ten published works, including “Sekmaida Pokpa Siba” (Prose, 2011), “Phijinungi Kundo Pareng” (Short Story, 2012), “Siroy Lily” (Poetry, 2013), “Phijilsi Honglaroidra Ima” (Short Story, 2015), “Noonglon” (Puya, 2016), “Maral Luhong Tamba” (Poetic Song, 2017), “Khamnung Lambi, Nonga Lambi Takpa” (Poetic Song, 2017), “Hiyairol” (Prose, 2019), “Punshi Ichellaktei” (Lyrical Poems, 2019), “Nawa Rupapaal” (Novel, 2021), “Nawa Rupapaal” (Sheirengi Ichel, 2022), and “Chatkhi Chatnadrabaduda” (Drama, 2023).
