Deserted streets of Imphal receives Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Imphal

Deserted streets of Imphal today receives Prime Minister Narendra Modi as almost all people of the state remained indoor due to the public curfew and general strike called by the rebel group CorCom and Maoist Communist Party (MCP). The day of the Prime Minister visit to the state has been called 17 hours general strike by the MCP and 24 hours public curfew by CorCom.
Following the general strike and public curfew announced by the rebel group security has been beefed up in and around Imphal city. Special security measures were seen taken up along the route that the Indian Prime Minister is expecting to travel. From Tulihal Airport till Keishampat area security force were seen at all places along the roadside. Security forces along with paramilitary troopers were also seen at various places of Imphal city.
Meanwhile, streets in Imphal remain deserted since early morning today as almost all commercial vehicles and private vehicles remained off the road. All business establishment and cinema halls remained closed. Even visitors at Sangai Festival were seen very little and all entertainment programme which used to organised during the Sangai Festival were also stopped today.
