DESAM blames teachers and authorities for MU crisis

IT News
Imphal, April 30:

Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has pointed fingers at the ongoing crisis within the Manipuri Department of Manipur University, placing blame squarely on both the department’s teachers and university authorities. DESAM alleges that recent developments within the department have occurred in disregard of established rules and regulations, seemingly driven by the whims and desires of a select few individuals seeking short-term gains. The student organization calls for an immediate cessation of such actions, advocating for the implementation of proper rules and regulations to govern the university’s operations. Furthermore, DESAM emphasizes that decisions regarding syllabi and curricula should rest with the teachers and university administration, rather than being influenced by students or those seeking employment within the department.
Expressing concern over the lack of faculty in crucial areas such as folklore, linguistics, and culture, DESAM highlights the confusion prevailing among both teachers and students within the department. The reported incidents of threats against the Head of the Department of Manipuri Department and internal conflicts among students, notably occurring in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s office, are deemed regrettable by DESAM.
