“The leader of the state BJP seems to lose faith in its central leaders who are ruling at the center or else why they are very much against the demand for President Rule in Manipur as it is the BJP government at the center that will govern the state”, Rabi Khan told media person reacting to allegations to the congress party by a state BJP leader. He said that the claim for restoration of peace in the state by the Chief Minister is a joke to the people as confrontation continues at the periphery every day and people are left in horror in relief camps. Rabi Khan further said that the Congress Party had no intention to demand President Rule in Manipur but it was the BJP Ministers and the MLAs of Manipur that first demanded President Rule in Manipur during their meeting with the Home Minister of Manipur. The Congress Party today is left with no options then demand President Rule in Manipur as the present government has completely failed to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Rabi Khan further said that a large team of Manipur police including the SP of Imphal West, Additional SP, OCs of Imphal West and Lamlai Police stations yesterday came to the residence of Youth Congress President M. Poilal at Khurkhulat around 10.30 pm yesterday and attempted to arrest him. However, Popilal was not at his home at the time. Later the Police team went to Lamlai and attempted to arrest another Congress leader. Both had attended the rally organised by the MPCC for submitting memorandum to the Governor of Manipur. Rabikhan said that Popilal is not outlawed and the large force which came in around 30 vehicles should be used in the periphery area where villagers spend sleepless nights.
