College teachers end agitation after CM’s intervention, classes to be resumed from tomorrow

The Government College Teachers will resume duties including classes from tomorrow, 8th March 2021. The decision was taken after an agreement was signed between the Government and FEGOCTA yesterday.
In a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Dr. N. Somorendro Singh) General Secretary, FEGOCTA appreciated the Chief Minister, N. Biren, the Education Minister, S. Rajen, the Chief Secretary, the Commissioner of Higher Education, the Director of University and Higher Education, and other officials for fulfilling the demands of FEGOCTA.
“ What was missing in the Order of 25th February 2021 by Higher Education will be clearly mentioned in the new Order which will be issued in two weeks time,” Dr. N. Somorendro Singh said.
“ FEGOCTA, the apex body of the Government College Teachers in Manipur really appreciates the Chief Minister’s intervention and resolving 5th FEGOCTA agitations with statesmanship approach and concern for the higher education”, he added
As per yesterday’s agreement, the Government agreed to give 7th UGC Pay notionally from 1.1.2016. Further, the arrear amount from 1.4.2019 to 31.3.2021 will be given in two installments in July 2021 and April 2022. The cash payment of 7th UGC Pay will be made from July 2021 along with the arrears of April, May, and June 2021. As per the Cabinet decision of 6th August 2020, the Government has already agreed to adopt UGC Regulations, 2018 which prescribes the qualifications for recruitment, criteria for promotion, service conditions, duties of the teachers, etc in the Colleges. FEGOCTA appeals to the government to implement yesterday’s agreement by issuing the complete Orders of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 at the earliest.
