CBI files chargesheet against 7 accused in a arms loot case from 2nd IRB

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has filed a chargesheet before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro), Guwahati(Assam) against 7 (seven) accused persons in a case related to loot of arms and ammunition from 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Narenseina, PS Moirang, Distt. Bishnupur, Manipur on August 3, 2023.
The CBI registered the instant case on August 24, 2023, and took over the investigation of FIR No. 1442(8)/2023(5)2023 dated 03.08.2023 registered at Police Station Moirang, Distt. Bishnupur, Manipur, following Notifications issued by the State Govt. of Manipur and subsequently by the Government of India under the DSPE Act, 1946.
As alleged in the FIR, on 03.08.2023 large number of armed miscreants and individuals, looted around 300 arms, around 19800 ammunitions, and around 800 types of munitions & other accessories from two rooms of Bn. HQ Kote inside Quarter Guard, 2-IRB, Naranseina, Distt. Bishnupur, Manipur.
According to source, the seven accused are identified as Laishram Prem Singh; Khumukcham Dhiren @ Thapkpa; Moirangthem Anand Singh; Athokpam Kajit @ Kishorjit; Loukrakpam Michael Mangangcha @ Michael; Konthoujam Romojit Meitei @ Romojit; and Keisham Johnson @ Johnson.
Further investigation against other suspects involved in the looting of arms and ammunition and other aspects is continuing.
