Sunday prayer of the Christian dominated Churachandpur town was given a serious blow after a powerful IED blast rocks town today morning. Peace lovers attending the Sunday Church were stun when they heard a loud explosion at around 8.20 am. The blast took place at a public place near the post of 54 Bn of BSF G Coy at light house, Churachandpur. At least four civilians were reported injured in the blast. The four injured persons have been identified as Gopen (63) resident of Churachandpur Old Bazaar, Md Mustim (17) son of Md Abdullah who is a resident of Mayang imphal and presently residing at Churachandpur Old bazaar, Mrs Salima (41) wife of Iboyai, resident of Sekmai presently residing at Churachandpur Old Bazar and Harinder Shah (35) son of Kanu Shah of Churachandpur Old Bazar.
The injured persons are presently undergoing treatment at Churachandpur District hospital.
