Bailey bridge collapses, truck driver missing

A Bailey bridge constructed between Irong and Mutum Phibou in Wangoi-PS District, Imphal West, collapsed early this morning while a truck was crossing it. The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 am, causing the six-wheeler truck to plunge into the Imphal River.
The truck was carrying four people. Three passengers managed to jump out of the vehicle, but the driver could not escape and is currently missing. The driver has been identified as Dolaipabam Md Borajao (45), son of Md Ibocha, from Mayang Imphal Yangbi.
The three passengers who were injured in the accident are Makakmayum Amin (28) from Bengoon Leirak, Mayang Imphal, son of Md Nasiruddin, Md Tarif Hussain (21) from Mayang Imphal Bengoon, son of Md Aktar Hussain and Md Ashif Hussain (18) from Mayang Imphal Bengoon, son of Md Aktar Hussain.
The owner of the vehicle, Sapam Ibomcha (50), son of late Sapam Satpa from Hiyanglam Awang Leikai, was also involved in the incident.
Local residents sprang into action, managing to rescue two individuals from the truck. However, the driver remains missing as the truck, along with the collapsed bridge, lies deep in the river.
Emergency response teams have been deployed to the scene, and search operations are underway to locate the missing driver.
