Moreh, Aug 12:

Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed relief material to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in Moreh on 12th Aug 2020.
A total of 120 packages were distributed with each package containing Rice, Flour, Sugar, Salt and Fresh Vegetables. Due to COVID 19 and lockdown restrictions, the relief materials were handed over to the community leaders for further distribution to the affected families.
Moreh being a multi-community township, equitable distribution to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) families of all communities was ensured. A majority of population in Moreh is financially dependent on move of goods from across Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) under the Free Movement Regime (FMR). However, due to closure of International Border Gate No-2 for the last four months, the means of earning for these people have reduced drastically causing extensive financial hardships.
The contribution by the Assam Rifles was an attempt to further supplement the efforts of the Government under the “Garib Kalyan Yojna”. All the community leaders expressed their gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for this noble cause during the challenging times.
