AMMSO raises alarm over the state of MTU

IT News
Imphal, May 6:

The All Manipur Muslim Student’s Organisation (AMMSO) has issued a grave statement expressing deep concerns about the current state of Manipur Technical University (MTU), citing the absence of a regular Vice-Chancellor as a major issue. The AMMSO emphasized the critical need for appointing a Vice-Chancellor to ensure the smooth functioning and governance of the university. They warned that the delay or failure in making this appointment could potentially disrupt academic activities and administrative processes, ultimately compromising the quality of education and research provided by the institution.
The AMMSO also underscored the pivotal role of education, particularly higher education, in societal development and progress. They cautioned that without proper leadership, Manipur Technical University might deteriorate into a mere namesake institution, incapable of fulfilling its intended purpose effectively.
The statement by AMMSO also revealed that the post of regular Vice Chancellor has remained vacant since January 27, 2023, indicating governmental indifference toward the higher education sector. The AMMSO strongly objected to the appointment of the Commissioner of the education department, who is also in charge of the Home department, as the VC in charge, citing concerns about his capacity to handle university matters effectively.
In light of these concerns, the student body appealed for the expedited resolution of the pending case regarding the appointment of the MTU VC in law court, emphasizing the urgency of safeguarding the future of the students.
