Alleged malpractice in PhD admission process at MU sparks concern

IT News
Imphal, June 2:

Democratic Student Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has raised concerns over the malpractices in the admission process for PhD programs in the Department of Education at Manipur University. Following discrepancies in the results of the Qualifying Entrance Test (QET) held on April 29, 2024, and subsequent notifications, DESAM alleges malpractice.
DESAM’s scrutiny prompted the university authorities to form a three-person inquiry team to investigate the matter. As a result, the QET process was canceled, and an order (No.MU/4-133/2024) was issued mandating the Department of Adult Continuing Education and Extension to conduct a Re-Entrance Test.

Subsequently, another Pre-PhD Entrance test was conducted on May 26, 2024, indicating irregularities in the initial process. DESAM demands accountability and punishment for those who have done wrong and also advocated for the exclusion of the Department of Education’s HOD and faculty from future admission processes.
