Air Display at Air Force Station Pune

The air display at Air Force Station Pune was organised as part of  “Swarnim Vijay Varsh( Golden jubilee of India’s victory in 1971 war against Pakistan ) exposing viewers to spectacular manoeuvres on Saturday.
The display commenced with the famous ‘Air Devils’ sky divers, jumping from a Mi-17 helicopter with their colourful parachutes. The skies of Pune also witnessed a enthralling air show by Sarang display team with their advanced light helicopter and Suryakiran aerobatic team with their Hawk MK 152 aircraft.
The Sarang display team with four ‘Made in India’ “Dhruv” advanced light helicopters mesmerised the gathering with their spectacular manoeuvres. The grand finale was a scintillating display by 9 aircraft of SuryaKiran aerobatic team piercing through the Pune skies with their blazing contrails leaving the audience spellbound.
As the nation celebrates the 50th year of victory in the 1971 war, 2020-21 has been declared as the ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ by the Government of India. The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ has been dedicated to the war heroes of the Indian Armed Forces who made supreme sacrifices for the country. The historic war of 1971 resulted in the largest military surrender since World War II, wherein 93 thousand enemy troops laid down their arms before the Indian Armed Forces.
The senior dignitaries who witnessed the air display included: Air Chief Marshal PV Naik  (Retd) and Lt Gen JS Nain, GOC-in-C, Southern Command.
