A Mega Event: Tangkhul Naga Film Festival 2023 celebrated with Fanfare at Ukhrul Headquarter

The two-day Mega Event Film Festival of Tangkhul Naga Film Association (TNFA) was celebrated with much Fanfare at Ukhrul Headquarter ground Winotang, on Friday.
The first Tangkhul Film came into being in 1985. And in 2014, the nomenclature was changed to Tangkhul Music and Film Association (TMFA). However, in 2016, the Association retained its original name – TNFA, said Eno. YL. Ravin, president of TNFA.
“Huinaya Phaningkakhui” was the first Tangkhul film. It was released in 1986 by the then President of TNL, Qr. P. Peter. Directed by Qr. AS Somingam and ‘ produced under Rosowor Production. Ql.Chonchon Raleng of Hunphun and Qr. Ngayaisin Shangh of Shirui were the two leading actors.
Followed by “Hanungfalo Aphinao” in 1986, produced by Lions Club, Tashar. And today after many decades there are more than 30 production houses and have released more than 100 films Ravins said.
TNFA president further states that the main objective and mission of TNFA is to make meaningful films to enrich our arts through films and promote the artists and all the Tangkhuls involved in filmmaking, he adds.
Qr. Ram Muivah, IAS (Retd.) Ukhrul MLA the chief guest of the Event shared his opinion saying that due to the climatic conditions of Ukhrul, such events will be more favourable during February/ March to organise such a mega event. Yes, we have to have to tell our stories to the world through films and to make the world know about us through our films and I consider it significant towards our identity, and culture el extra to reveal the world our unique history through the medium of films, the MLA exhorts and congratulates the organiser for organising such events.
During the TNFA two-day long 14th to 15 December 2023 Film Festival excitingly, Sonam Topden came all the way from Manali, Himachal Pradesh, and showcased his mesmerizing talent at Ukhrul the hill station of Manipur by performing on stage on the 14th and 15th December musical night.
The much-anticipated concert during the film festival promises to enthrall Ukhrulites to a memorable event. Significantly, Sonam’s ability and “The Spectrum” musical Girls band from Makokchung, Nagaland performing on stage unquestionably connect with audiences from various regions definitely makes the concert a highly anticipated part of the Tangkhul Naga Film Festival, magnifying a musical dimension to the cinematic celebration.
Nevertheless, the film festival was also attended by Mrs. Asia Pacific Intercontinental 2019, Inoli. Sylvia Adaphro, as a special showstopper, Padma Shree Awardee, Guru Rewben Mashangva, Tangkhul Legendary, and evergreen Singer, composer, and Actor Qr. Thangmeiso Shinglai and Ruparu Mr. India (Brand Ambassador), Lummi Awungshi as the special guests during the event.
One of the main ingredients of the Mega Event was that of extending a special acknowledgment through Awards presented to twelve different categories which include, Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Role (male and female), Best Director, Best Videography, Best editor, Best costume and Best makeup etc., etc. during the TNFA event 2023.
