3 suspected Kuki militants died in fresh clash at Kangpokpi area

Three suspected Kuki militants were reported killed in yet another fresh clash this morning at Singda Dam Chingya Mathak Village – an adjoining area between Imphal West and Kangpokpi district.
Report reaching here said that the fresh clash occurred at around 6.30 am today near Thumkhong Lairembi located in between Singda Kandangband and Kharam Vaiphei inter-village road. The report added that the clash occurred after some armed miscreants were seen loitering in the area creating panic to the villagers of the area. When the Villagers of the Singda area were trying to escape from the guns of the miscreants, gunshots were reportedly heard by the villagers.
Following the incident state police along with para-military forces rushed to the site. On the other hand, villagers belonging to the Kuki Community also rushed towards the site and blocked all roads leading to the firing site.
The Community on Tribal Unity (COTU) in a statement identified those deceased as Satneo Tuboi from K Ponlen, Ngamminlun Lhouvm from K Ponlen, and Ngamminlun Kipgen from Lhangkichoi Village. The COTU claimed the deceased to be innocent villagers.
Police reports said that the incident took place when three Kuki persons who were going in a vehicle were waylaid by armed miscreants and shot dead and there was no gunfight.
Police have started investigations to nab those responsible.
