Imphal, July 3:
Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) spokesperson Elangbam Johnson has criticized the recent speech by Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Manipur’s Lok Sabha MP, during a Parliament session. Elangbam Johnson stated that Bimol Akoijam’s address lacked comprehensiveness by failing to mention several key issues.
Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam did raise some pressing matters faced by the people of Manipur and emphasized the need for comprehensive solutions, warning that neglecting these issues could lead to severe consequences. However, Elangbam Johnson felt that crucial points were missing.
At a gathering held at Thambal Shanglen, BJP’s Head Office located at Nityaipat Chuthek in Imphal, Elangbam Johnson highlighted several significant issues currently affecting Manipur. He pointed to the influx of illegal migrants from Myanmar, which poses a demographic threat to the state. Elangbam Johnson also criticized the ongoing Suspension of Operations (SoO) with Kuki militants and called for the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to address these concerns.
Elangbam Johnson stressed that the public has been demanding solutions to these problems and urged that they be brought up during the ongoing Parliament session. He insisted that Dr. Bimol should advocate for these points assertively, despite the emotional tone that such discussions might entail.
Additionally, Elangbam Johnson called for constructive suggestions to be presented to the Centre, emphasizing the importance of finding solutions to the state’s problems. He urged that any measures proposed should be in the best interest of the people of Manipur, aiming for a resolution that ensures peace and stability in the region.
Elangbam Johnson’s remarks came in response to the widely acclaimed speech by Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam delivered in parliament two days ago, where he sharply criticized the BJP government’s policy on the ongoing violence in the state.
