Jiribam 50-bedded hospital faces administrative challenges

IT Correspondent
Jiribam, May 15:

The Jiribam 50-bedded hospital is facing significant administrative challenges, according to the Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) District Council Jiribam.
During a surprise visit, the council found that the hospital is understaffed, with shortages at the OPD counter. This has caused difficulties for patients seeking treatment.
The council’s president, Th. Santosh, stated that the absence of a District Medical Superintendent (DMS) and a Medical Officer in charge has led to administrative challenges in maintaining the hospital.
The council also expressed disagreement with the recent order issued by the Joint Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, which utilized a doctor from the Jiribam hospital. The council has appealed for the reinstatement of the utilized doctor to ensure the hospital’s functionality.
Furthermore, the council president revealed that the hospital’s oxygen plant has been defunct for over a year, despite the DMS’s repeated written requests for its repair. The council has urged the authorities to address this issue swiftly.
The DESAM District Council Jiribam has appealed to the government of Manipur to improve the hospital’s conditions and address the administrative and staffing challenges it faces.
