All Manipur Working Journalist Union and Editor Guild Manipur today expressed strong condemnation to the excess of the Central Security Force (CSF) towards journalists of the state. This is the third time since the violence erupted in the state that the Journalists’ fraternity condemn the excess of the CAF personnel. The AMWJU and the EGM had earlier decided to stop coverage of development news of the Central forces if the CAF fails to take action against the personnel harassing the journalists of the state. The Journalists body once more reaffirmed the decision to boycott the development news of the CAF after a reporter was assaulted by the personnel of the CAF and vandalise the residence of another journalist in Imphal East district.
The CSF yesterday entered to the residence of Nabakumar Khagokpam, who is also the Internal Auditor of AMWJU Manipur at around 1 pm on the pretext of searching the agitators at Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai. The security force allegedly destroyed the gate and later the windshield of a Four wheeler Maruti Car. At around 10:30 pm the Rapid Action Force assaulted the Sub Editor of Echel Express, Haobam Prabinkumar near Khurai Popular High School.
