“We would like to bring to the public notice that when Songjang and Govajang Village were attacked and burnt, the Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh was present at Nongsum Leikai which is adjacent to Khopibung Village”, a press statement of KIM said.
That was the day when armed Kuki militants killed 9 persons at Aigejang Village which is also close to the stated villages were killed leaving 10 others seriously injured.
The KIM statement alleged that the Meitei people burnt 13 villages in the adjoining area of Imphal East and Kangpokpi district. The villages are Khopibung, Khamenlok, Chullouphai, A. Phainom, A. Laikot, Aigejang, Thambol, Zoldanphai, Songjang, Govijang , Thangza, Pheilengjang and Saijang. The villages were alleged to have been burnt between June 12 to June 14.

This was contrary to the statement by the KIM president, Ajang Khongsai, who straight away told the media that they will boycott the Peace Committee constituted by the Union Home Minister under the chairmanship of Manipur Governor.
