Four vehicles including 3 trucks, ferrying plywood factory materials from Sugnu side towards Imphal were halted and burnt by a mob at Langmeidong and Wabagai area yesterday evening.

The 2 trucks burnt at Langmeidong High School playground, bearing registration numbers AS01-JC6643 and MN01-5247. A Bolero vehicle bearing registration number AS01 PC 8604 which was allegedly guarding the loaded trucks was also burnt by the mob. The truck burnt in Wabagai area bears registration number MN05C-3297.
According to report culled from the incident site, the plywood factory materials belong to one Nongthombam Dilipkumar, son of (late) N. Gouri from Koirengei Keithel in Imphal East. The mob also found a deed agreement written between Khupkhosei Haokip whose plywood factory was burnt down by the public at Longpi village (Nazareth) in Sugnu and N. Dilipkumar, which means that the materials are from the factory destroyed by the people.
The report further said that the trucks were burnt after those in the trucks and bolero had a heated argument with the local Meira Paibis who have been checking vehicles on the roads in connection with the present crisis burning the state.
